Stuart McCall

Stuart McCall

Signed by: Paul Jewell
From: Dick Advocatt (Glasgow Rangers)
Cost: Free Transfer

The return of Bradford City's most popular play of the modern era was sealed by manager Paul Jewell in the summer of 1998. Many City fans have followed McCall's career post-City and seen the combative Scot play in (and score in) the World Cup, grab two goals in the FA Cup final and amass a fine collection of Scottish Premier League medals. Stuart also has 39 Scotland caps and, judging from that country's recent inability to create more than two chances against the Faroe Islands, should get a few more.

When Stuart's club Rangers played Leeds in a European cup "Battle of Britain" the former City midfielder was quoted as saying "I know that a few thousand people in Bradford are hoping we will put one over on Leeds".

Midfielder Stuart combines superb ball winning abilities with fine passing and surging runs to support the strikers.
